We’re extending the deadline for the 2010 Fiction Open until Sunday, November 7. Why you ask? Because we won’t rest until we know we’ve seen every good piece of fiction inspired by song. Also, long time fans know the editors here have a strange obsession with David Bowie, who, in 1973 retired from touring just long enough to record new material to take on tour. See? We can’t…

Another thing__In the spirit of the coming shopping season, we’re also offering a bit of a bargain. Who doesn’t love twofers? No, not Twofor from 30 Rock (although we love him too). But a good ‘ol fashion two-for-one deal. Instead of one story submission for 10 bucks, you may now submit two. Yes, we’re crazy__and loving it!

And, to be fair, anyone who has already submitted is welcome to send another story free of charge. We are in the process of contacting previous submitters, but if you get there first, send us an email.

Those who have not yet submitted, please include both of your stories in one document using the submission manager here.

Addendum: We’re holding the line on 11/7, so get it while you can.

I realize that I didn’t add the song to my first story, Paradise.
I used it, without keeping with its original spiritual (or maybe religious) spirit, but more literally, to show the conflict between the human and the “godly.”

    Thank you,
